Community-Based Doula
Community-based birth work is typically focused on expanding resources to our families who may need it most, but have the least means to access. It is heart-centered work, and it takes a village.
Sales from Keep Birth Beautiful is an extension of my offerings. This provides another way for me to be able to properly support families in need by balancing work provided at discounted rates or pro bono. Buying from this site is a small donation to sponsoring a family feel safe & supported during their birth journey. Profit from sales also help with continued education and connection to resources.
These products are designed to continue the conversation that needs to be heard:
The current state of the The U.S. maternal health rates within the medical industrial complex system is, in fact, a public health crisis!

Celebrate Doulas
"Research shows that women who have doula support are 50% less likely to deliver prematurely, 36% less likely to deliver low birthweight babies, and 33% more likely to initiate breastfeeding. In addition to the benefits above, studies show that when a doula is present partners participate with more confidence, mothers have less pre- and postnatal stress, and are less likely to have postpartum mood disorders." About Me
My name is Liyah. I am a community-based birth worker; birth doula, Certified Lactation Counselor, doula mentor with Ujima Maternity Network, co-founder and secretary of the Doula Alliance of Arkansas, wife, mother, and all around birth and breastfeeding nerd. The U.S. ranks highest of all developed countries in terms of maternal mortality and morbidity with numbers on the rise even though our hospital-based maternity care receives the highest funding of any other country. I reside in Central Arkansas where we are sweeping the bottom in the nation in terms of our maternal health care rates. I am on a mission is to fill the gap between providers and clients by providing evidence based education, options, and resources to families and individuals with the goal in mind to encourage them to empower themselves by playing a more active role in their health and life care and management. We are revolutionizing and we are taking our birth experiences back into our hands! More importantly, I seek to show up as the comfort and support families need me to be in the moments I am needed.
